    Description of Work

    The Correctional Behavioral Specialist I - Inpatient Mental Health position is located at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Woman (NCCIW). The Correctional Behavioral Specialist I (CBSI) will facilitate and monitor mental health related groups with special populations within the facility as well as organizing and facilitating the psychiatry clinics. They will assist mental health team to develop procedures to assist the offender population that are on mental health caseload or in mental health crisis. Will work with other disciplines within the facility to provide services for offender population.

    The North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest female offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female offenders. This Institution houses up to 1700 offenders. The Healthcare Facility employees approximately 260 full time employees.

    About the NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
    The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

    • Documented knowledge of psychological principles.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of psychological and social assessments and treatment plans.
    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Note: Positions being recruited specifically for diagnostics will require at least one year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
