- Candidates with a degree in Neuroscience and strong background in performing behavioral neuroscience experiments in rodents.

- Contribute to animal husbandry procedures.
- Set-up, pilot, troubleshoot and execute experiments in support of ongoing and future research projects.
- Conduct a broad range of research activities/experiments in support of ongoing and new research projects and keep a well-maintained lab notebook.
- Serve as quality control monitor for the lab: maintain accurate documentation.
- Learn and execute stereotaxic surgeries, viral infusions and in vivo optical recording techniques.
- Learn cryosectioning techniques and histological procedures.
- Implement molecular biology techniques to study changes in gene and/or protein expression in neural samples.
- Conduct data analysis procedures, keep organized analytical data of performed experiments and report results.
- Provide support for equipment maintenance as needed.
- May train and supervise undergraduate students/graduate students/research assistants.
- Serve as liaison with other UT Dallas offices (Safety, IBCC, etc.).
- Work closely with PI and staff to resolve issues, and constantly strive to improve the overall efficiency of lab operations.
- At ease working with rats and biological samples.
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills are required for triaging solutions, identifying, and executing troubleshooting efforts, and planning equipment and resource use.
- Knowledge of general laboratory procedures, basic safety precautions, and laboratory equipment.
- Provide technical support for the laboratory.
- Ability to conduct research activities and make decisions according to ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- A strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Responsible for the documentation and maintenance of lab equipment procedures.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is essential.

The Rincón-Cortés Lab in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences is seeking an engaged and enthusiastic individual as a Research Laboratory Technician.
The individual will be responsible for some administrative aspects of running the laboratory (i.e., scheduling, record-keeping, etc.), assisting with animal husbandry procedures and colony management, as well as conducting laboratory research using behavioral methods and neuroscience techniques including but not limited to immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, chemogenetics, and optical imaging.
Technical aspects of research studies include but are not limited to study logistics, collection and analysis of data, data management and study documentation for quality assurance review.
This person will work under the supervision of Dr. Rincón-Cortés as well as independently and collaboratively.Initial employment will be one year (anticipated start date of May 20, 2024) with possibility of additional years pending grant funding and positive annual performance reviews.
This position is grant funded. Initial employment will be one year with the possibility of additional years contingent on the availability of funds.Minimum Education and Experience
Associate degree with a minimum of two years hands on experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
