    Description

    MUST:

    • Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
    • 4-10 years of accounting in either : financial services or insurance accounting
    • Hands on experience with data and data feeds
    • Knowledge of: Debits, credits, PNL , ledgers
    • Knowledge of accounting operations, processes and systems.
    • Experience with life insurance OR accounting/financial services accounting and administration processes and systems.
    • Supervisory experience- projects, people, etc, can manage 2 people
    • Experience with administrative and office operations and procedures in all operating areas of Company.
    • Automation experience- Ability to get rid of excel and move it to systems/powerbi

    PLUS:

    • CPA preferred.
    • Powerbi experience
    • Insurance Industry designation(s) preferred.
    • Knowledge of statutory accounting theory and practical application preferred.
    • Life insurance experience- super ideal

    DAY TO DAY:

    Our fast growing client, a life insurance and annuities company, is seeking an Accounting Operations Manager to join their team in Durham, NC as a full time employee. This role will oversee 2 individuals, one local and one offshore and the role and team is operation in nature. This person will work closely with their data feeds, work with their admin system, work on their ledger, and also work with their IT tams to test new pieces to the platform. The team is constantly developing new insurance platforms. There is a ton of data coming in and out of this accounting team, and we are looking for someone who can help automate that data (i.e. take data from excel and automate into PowerBI). This role will focus heavily on automation and will work with our IT Development team to help develop an insurance accounting platform. In addition, this person will work on accounting reconciliations, ensure system fees are coming in, approve and review the teams accounting work, work on ledgers, and so much more.
