    Description
    job summary:
    A Packaging Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Morton, IL area. The Packaging Engineer role involves designing and developing packaging solutions, collaborating with suppliers and facilities, conducting cost analysis, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

    responsibilities:
  • Design and develop returnable and expendable packaging for individual piece parts and bulk shipping.

  • Establish packaging and processing specifications for new product introductions and supply chain improvements.

  • Communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements.

  • Lead initiatives and collaborate with suppliers and facilities to improve packaging efficiency.

  • Create packaging concepts and container layouts using 3D modeling software.

  • Perform cost analysis and develop business cases for packaging improvements.

  • Procure and validate new packaging and containers during pilot phases.

  • Audit supplier conformance to packaging specifications. Skills:

  • Experience with Manufacturing Enterprise Packaging System.

  • Experience in conducting cost analysis and preparing business cases.

  • Experience in supplier collaboration to implement packaging and logistics changes.

  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • strong interpersonal, teamwork, organization, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma project management principles.

  • Experience within operations in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge and experience with Pack Assistant and Teamcenter. Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Packaging Engineer or Packaging Analyst.
