    Description
    Commercial Construction Estimator

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Prepares detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications as well as performing quality takeoffs for all scopes and trades.

    Develops and prepares conceptual estimates with minimal assistance from subcontractors, using limited information.
    Develops subcontract interest in projects and manages the subcontractor RFP process.
    Develops high-quality subcontractor proposals, according to project specifics.
    Itemizes trade-specific scopes and prepares bid packages.
    Reviews software-generated estimates for completion and technical accuracy and to ensure quality and integrity.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    Interacts with clients, architects, engineers and local jurisdictions to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, etc.
    Helps construction team prepare job schedules.

    The Commercial Construction Cost Estimator must be a leader who assumes total responsibility for his or her work, while demonstrating written and verbal communication skills.

    These will help the individual develop and maintain a positive relationship with all levels of personnel as well as direct and manage others.

    The Commercial Construction Cost Estimator must maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines and meet those deadlines with minimal supervision.


    Detail-Oriented:


    The Commercial Construction Cost Estimator must be a detail-oriented individual with the ability to focus on quality and accuracy, while planning, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in an organized way.


    Focus on Learning:
    The Commercial Construction Cost Estimator must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.

    High Level of Discretion:
    The Commercial Construction Cost Estimator must maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

    Computer Skills:


    To perform this job successfully, the Commercial Construction Cost Estimator must be proficient in commercial estimating software, such as MC2, QuickBid, On-Screen Takeoff, etc.; experience with Procore preferred.


    Education/Experience:


    Relevant commercial construction estimating experience, particularly in conceptual budgeting; extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures and market trends; four-year degree in construction management or engineering or at least 10 years of experience preferred.
