Job scope


The General Manager of Service Centers is responsible to manage all aspects of FLSmidth USA Service Center Operations as an integral part of the business strategy within the broad operating parameters given by Head of Professional Services, NAMER.

Key Accountabilities

  • Safety is our number one priority. This position will ensure that all the safety standards and protocols are adhered to by the team. Fostering an exceptional safety culture is a priority.
  • Leads all operations, which includes tear downs, rebuilding/assembly, machining (where applicable), quality control, and final packaging for shipment to the end user.
  • Efficiently coordinate supply and demand by continual alignment and synchronization in planning among all functions.
  • Plant operations management which includes directing production personnel as well as create, review, and maintain operating and general procedures.
  • Develop and manage the operations budget.
  • Ensures quality of products.
  • Take corrective action where performance falls short of targeted goals to ensure delivery of strategic and operational goals like eg., cost of poor quality, delivery on time in full, reduction of production cost, improvement of inventory turns, safety, etc.
  • Help manage inventory levels to reduce slow moving items and ensure availability of critical items to support business needs.
  • Responsible for performance planning and development of all operations personnel.
  • Meet Operations and Supply Chain metrics per plan outlined in the annual operating plan, define and meet monthly and daily production/shipping/inventory KPIs.
  • Drive continuous improvement, kaizen/lean projects, and productivity to drive savings and efficiency.
  • Continuous improvement culture in the organization.
  • Ensure alignment with other departments including sales, quality, safety, and engineering and purchasing.
  • Continuously review the organization to develop, grow and select personnel in order to achieve a desired organizational culture and performance.
  • May interact with clients directly.
  • Supports and drives MissionZero initiatives.
Reporting

  • This position will report directly to the Head of Professional Services for North America
Experience requirements

  • 7+ years in similar industry as manager in similar positions (e

g:
operations director, supply chain director etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience in building strong customer relationships through positive effective communication.
  • Prior experience with building and maintaining positive relationships with vendors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and leadership in LEAN principles and practices proven experience implementing and maintaining a continuous improvement culture.
  • Experience in crisis resolution, business disruption recovery in supply chain/operations.
  • Prior experience with fiscal responsibilities and reporting tools.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
Additional qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, or similar field.
  • Knowledgeable in Material Resource Planning (MRP).
  • Indepth knowledge of manufacturing, design, maintenance, and troubleshooting standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication, human relations, and leadership skills.
  • Skilled problemsolver possessing good sales and negotiating skills.
  • Multistate operations management experience.
  • Customer oriented with the ability to provide rapid, accurate responses to emergencies.
  • Indepth understanding and considerable experience in commercial, financial, and legal aspects of the business.
  • Must have a high degree of confidentiality and ethics.
  • MS Office Suite programs proficiency.
  • Experience with an ERP system.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced business acumen, communication, and change management skills.
  • Traveling may be required.
