Description
DEES is responsible for enforcing CARB's regulations by inspecting and investigating vehicles and equipment to verify compliance.Staff conduct field investigations and comprehensive audits of regulated entities to determine compliance, issue violations, and attempt to resolve those violations through a mutual settlement process.
Inspections and investigations may originate from complaints or data derived output.In addition, DEES is primarily responsible for development and implementation of on-board diagnostics (OBD) and tampering policies, HD I/M and inspection procedures to assist the section with enforcing CARB regulations.

Working Conditions
This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework.
The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy.
While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.- Requires being stationary, consistent with office work, for extended periods.
- Standard office environment (artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.)
- Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
- Must be able to move/transport equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Additional working condition: The position will require travel up to 50%.
