- Provides school age youth and transitional youth with intensive case management services.
- Works with and develops strong, healthy relationships with youth, family members, and others involved in the youth's life.
- Monitors youth's progress and maintains frequent communication with youth through face-to-face meetings in the community; visits the youth at their place of residence (home, shelter, foster care, DJS facility); engages in phone calls, text messages, and any other means of communication to ensure that individual goals are being addressed and met.
- Create individualized service plans that help survivors identify and reach their goals.
- Promote clients' wellbeing and ability to reach their goals through assessment, advocacy, psychosocial education, rapport-building, connection to resources, accompaniment to appointments when necessary and appropriate, and evaluation.
- Cultivate relationships with victim service providers, child welfare agencies, child advocacy centers, task forces and other local/regional/tribal resources serving the needs of child trafficking victims in an assigned region of the country.
- Use motivational interviewing and a strengths-based approach to promote client self-assessment and self-advocacy.
- Assist clients in accessing benefit programs, housing, medical, and dental care.
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and outcome evaluations as needed. Use the Youth Risk Assessment to identify high risk indicators along with additional assessment tools such as Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment- Human Trafficking (ANSA-HT) to track and evaluate client progress.
- Provides assistance in leading client community-building activities and outings.
- Manages case files and provides progress notes after each client interaction. Maintains written records of all needs, service plans, and goal achievements.
- Rotates on an on-call schedule to respond to after-hours crisis calls involving trafficking victims/survivors.
- Assists with all aspects of crisis intervention that includes providing for emergency needs like food and/or clothing, shelter placement, and safety planning; assessing for emergency medical, mental health, or substance abuse support and making required connections; assisting with coordination of transportation and interpretation needs; providing supportive counseling; and making a follow-up or service transfer plan.
- Communicates with appropriate SAFE Center staff and completes reporting for new intakes.
- Follows all SAFE Center safety protocols and procedures.
- Assists in the development of crisis intervention protocols and resources.
- Assists with outreach, training, and program development as needed. Assists with relevant grant writing and reporting.
- Reviews and revises crisis intervention and case management protocols, polices, and procedures as needed.
- Assists with data collection and analysis and grant reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Case Manager for Youth and Young Adult Human Trafficking Survivors – GN)
The University of Maryland Support, Advocacy, Freedom, and Empowerment (SAFE) Center for Human Trafficking Survivors is seeking a motivated, caring, team-oriented Case Manager (Community Program Specialist) to join our social services program. The Case Manager will provide trauma-informed clinical case management and crisis intervention services to domestic and foreign national victims of human trafficking under the age of 25, as well as assist with social services program development and outreach.
This is a full-time position located in College Park, Maryland that offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment. Candidates will be required to complete a background check.
The SAFE Center is dedicated to providing direct services, research, and advocacy in the field of human trafficking. Through in-house service provision and collaboration with partners, the Center provides comprehensive social, legal, mental health, medical, and economic empowerment services to survivors of sex and labor trafficking of any age, nationality, or gender. The SAFE Center's mission is rooted in social justice and its active efforts to fight systemic racism as it recognizes this issue as one of the causes of human trafficking. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree. Degree in social sciences such as social work, psychology, counseling, public health, education, or another relevant human development field preferred. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of community program coordination, development, oversight, or administration. Experience working with survivors of trafficking, sexual assault, domestic violence, suicide, or other crimes or trauma that require an emergency/crisis response that includes working on a crisis hotline or on overnight shifts preferred.
Other: Related experience to program may be substituted for education. Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $50,000s to low $60,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
