**The Opportunity**

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

+ Focuson stormwater planning and design, flood control, and water supply planning

+ Support hydrologic and hydraulic planning and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm sewer systems, stormwater detention/retention facilities, dams, levees, and reservoirs

**The Team**

Our U.S. planning and water resources business has seen consistent growth driven by our clients needs to address challenges stemming from surface water/groundwater supply, operations, and associated regulatory requirements; development of aquifer storage and recovery systems; reservoir operation and seepage control; surface water management options; and the development of alternative water supplies. Challenges surrounding water scarcity, drought resiliency, groundwater depletion, saltwater intrusion, brackish groundwater treatment, brine stream management, desalination, climate variability, sea level rise, complex water rights, and evolving regulations are driving innovative water resource projects across the country. In the Carolinas, as well as other locations across the US, we anticipate an increased demand for creative integrated water resource and groundwater planning and design solutions. This, therefore, represents a strategic business opportunity for Black & Veatch, and the Hydrogeologist Professional will help the company grow its market share by providing world-class planning and water resource services.

**Key Responsibilities**

Support hydrologic and hydraulic planning and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm sewer systems, stormwater detention/retention facilities, dams, levees, and reservoirs.

Support water supply planning that provides long-term resilient supplies and mitigates climate change, regulatory uncertainty, aging infrastructure, and population growth/demand changes.

Support planning and design of green infrastructure, low impact development, and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.

Support erosion and sediment control planning and design, including SWPPP development.

Interface with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the benefit of our clients.

**Preferred Qualifications**

2+ years of water resources planning, stormwater design, and/or dam safety

Experience developing and executing water resource planning and design projects

Proficiency with working and collaborating in virtual environments (MS Teams, WebEx, Zoom)

Proficiency with some or all of the following software applications and models

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

+ ESRI ArcGIS or QGIS

+ AutoCAD

+ HEC-RAS

+ HEC-HMS

+ FLO-2D

+ EPA/XP-SWMM

+ InfoWorks

**Minimum Qualifications**

?

+ Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.

+ Minimum of 1 year related work experience

+ All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

**Certifications**

Engineering-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering License in AZ (or ability to acquire)

**Work Environment/Physical Demands**

Hybrid Work Schedule (3 days in Office/2 days in Remote).

Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).
