    As a FedEx Ground Business Contact(BC)/Operations Manager, you would manage the day to day Pick Up and Delivery services, routes, and all employed delivery drivers. Provide courteous and efficient delivery and pick-up of packages. Check shipments for conformance to FedEx features of service and provide related customer service functions.

    Job Duties:

    • Work with managers to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.
    • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
    • Provide inspired leadership for the organization.
    • Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
    • Support worker communication with the management team.
    • Help make important policy, planning, and strategy decisions.
    • Help develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures.
    • Oversee day to day planning.
    • Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
    • Responsible for ensuring we are providing quality service to FedEx Ground
    • Responsible for performance management of all BC's, assistant BC's, P&D Drivers, and other related staff.
    • Excellent contingency planner - establishing relationships with part-time drivers
    • Willing to serve as a contingency resource and deliver packages in the event of driver call-offs, driver shortages, heavy volume, or any other unforeseen circumstance.
    • Recruiting new talent when necessary.
    • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations, as well as other FedEx contractors in the building to help one another out in times of need.
    • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather

    Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity

    • Lead the team to operate in a cost-effective manner while driving continuous improvement.
    • Manage, train and develop managers and supervisors in hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining associates, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
    • Investigates, resolves and/or escalates customer service issues, as appropriate
    • Responsible for hiring, training new employees regarding job duties and performance expectations and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and other training requirements.
    • Displays flexibility and appropriate sense of urgency, while leading and engaging employees in a positive, professional manner
    • May conduct special studies relating to the introduction of new processes, products, or equipment to affect cost reduction and yield improvement.
    • Manages and Asses routes
    • Builds and maintains the schedule
    • Tracks fleet and equipment such as iPads, scanners and any other assigned devises
    • Perform other job responsibilities, as necessary and/or assigned.

    Job Conditions

    • Neat appearance since customer contact is required. Must meet and maintain the qualifications as outlined in the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Requires a medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations.
    • Note: There are specific requirements for any employee that operates a company vehicle. Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with state requirements for the type of vehicle assigned and have a good driving record as outlined in policy.
    • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
    • Drive throughout shift on all types of roads and in all types of weather
    • Exposure to noise and vibration
    • Exposure to dust and diesel fumes
    • Exposure to hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations
    • Hours may vary due to operational need

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in operations management, logistics, or related field is preferred but not required. . A minimum of 1 year in the field as an Operations Manager or related field.
    • Solid understanding of distribution, logistics and manufacturing.
    • Strong ability to manage and develop people.
    • Experience in supervisor, management, operations, and leadership.
    • Solid understanding of financial management and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash-flow management.
    • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees and drive culture.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Experience performing basic computer functions using Microsoft Excel, Word, & Google Sheets
    • Ability to multitask
    • Leadership and coaching skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience in delivery driving and last mile delivery is ideal
    • Experience in staff scheduling
    • Experienced BC with a FedEx Ground ISP and/or FedEx Ground Manager is ideal
    • Experienced in FedEx DRO Application is ideal
    • Experience Driving FedEx Ground Routes is ideal
    • FedEx Certified Driver Trainer is ideal
    • Eligible to work in the U.S.
    • Must be 21 years or older
    • Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and DOT physical exam or have a current
    • DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
    • Must have a current valid driver's license
    • A CDL is not required

    • Use hand-eye coordination and manual keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is required.
    • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
    • Ability to work weekends and off-shift hours, as needed to support activities.
    • Must be willing to travel occasionally, as needed.
    • Attendance is mandatory.

    Schedule

    Works 5/6 days out of the 7 day pay period during the year. Works 6 days out of the 7 day pay period during "PEAK" (Peak runs from the last two weeks of November through the end of December)
