Rutgers University invites interested applicants for the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness position to join the Recreation (REC) team as we facilitate opportunities to foster self-discovery, belonging, and wellness for the Scarlet Knight community. This position is primarily responsible
for working with the Fitness and Wellness Team in the management, design, and delivery of a comprehensive fitness and wellness program. The coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness.

Who we are
The Fitness and Wellness programs support the Recreation Department in creating a thriving community that embraces lifelong well-being. We are recognized as a gold-level campus in the ACSM Exercise is Medicine-on Campus program. The Fitness and Wellness team supports
wellness initiatives and programs throughout campus through "Wellness on the Go" services and collaborative programming. The recreation centers provide four large fitness centers, a stand-only fitness facility, and six specialty areas for indoor cycling, Olympic lifting, and functional training.

You will have the opportunity to
• Manage, design, and deliver a comprehensive group fitness and Wellness class program with over 100 weekly offers in four recreation centers.
• Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of 45+ Instructors.
• Be a member of the Fitness & Wellness Leadership Team (Assistant Director, (2) Coordinators, and Student Managers) in designing and implementing a comprehensive program that includes group fitness and wellness classes, fitness certifications, personal training, small group training, massage therapy, "Wellness on the Go," EIM-OC(Exercise is Medicine On Campus) programming, and Fitness and wellness events.
• Provide certification opportunities and mentorship.
• Hold students and staff members accountable for departmental expectations of creating an inclusive environment at REC facilities and programs.
• Design, coordinate, and lead training opportunities that focus on the growth and development of student self-awareness, leadership, wellness initiatives, and employability skill sets.
• Instruct Fitness & wellness classes or workshops weekly.
• Teach CPR, AED, and First Aid classes for Recreation Student Staff and Rutgers community participants.
• Budget, track, and reconcile monthly expenses related to Instructional classes and assist in the annual budgeting process.
The preferred candidate will have
● Two or more of the following certifications: Les Mills (Body pump, Body combat, Shapes, Core). Yoga (200+), Spinning, Zumba, or Pilates.
● Experience in the training and mentoring of college students
● One or more years of experience instructing group fitness and wellness classes
