Solutions Architect
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works with Enterprise Architects and Developers to design solutions supporting the strategic IT roadmap
- Conducts proofsofconcept (POCs) to evaluate vendor technologies and proposed solutions
- Provides guidance on design patterns and implementations to developers
- Trains and coaches a highly skilled and engaged development staff
- Leads the design and modeling of solution architectures for delivery, development, and support of projects
- Presents architectural designs and software solutions to technical and business audiences including Senior IT Management and the Architecture Review Board
- Analyzes existing systems, processes and architectures and makes recommendations for improvement
- Serves as advisor and mentor for IT staff
- Researches and develops new technologies, evaluates tools and software, and implements working prototypes
- Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects and presents to management
- Serves as technical expert to other teams or to partners within other business units
- Performs other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- 6+ years of handson experience in objectoriented software engineering. Significant, large scale project experience may be substituted for number of years.
- 6+ years of experience designing architectural solutions for APIs, Digital Transformations, Data Integrations and Cloud Technologies.
- Financial Services/Banking experience preferred.
- Broad knowledge of current IT trends and developments.
- Ability to lead, influence and facilitate technical solutions to meet business needs.
- Familiarity with DevOps processes.
- Knowledgeable in microservices architecture, RESTful/Web APIs, Relational Databases and Front-End Technologies (JavaScript, React, Angular, etc.)
Skills:
- Ability to "think big" and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups including ability to share knowledge, resolve conflict and build consensus among many stakeholders
- Broad, indepth working knowledge of various business components and understand dependencies and linkages of major business processes, products, systems, networks, etc.
- Willingness and ability to fulfill the role of teacher, mentor and coach
- Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsiveness to internal and external customers and contacts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management and organization skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology
- Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements
- A solid understanding of the financial services industry and the laws and regulations that govern and/or impact the credit union is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of OOA&D, design patterns, software architecture, systems integration concepts and frameworks
- Demonstrated experience with modern enterprise software development
- Advanced level expertise using SQL Server or other enterprise database platforms
- Strong knowledge of networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management, and related infrastructure technologies and practices
- Experience with Microsoft Visio, Project, Team Foundation Server, Power Point, Excel, Windows Server, SharePoint, Visual Studio, SSRS/SSIS
