Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller in the company's day-to-day accounting operations. The Staff Accountant also has a responsibility to ensure that accounting records and processes are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial data, including variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations (including work-in-progress)
- Support the Controller with fiscal year-end close activities, including the annual review process
- Assist the Controller with various tax filings, including the preparation and coordination of the company tax return
- Maintain and manage the fixed assets schedule
- Perform job cost reconciliation and review to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Participate in annual business insurance renewals and audit processes
- Assist the Controller with Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) administration
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred and/or 1–3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including GAAP and internal control principles
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment with strong analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel
- Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week, particularly during peak business cycles
- On-site position in a 100% in-office work environment
