    Job Title: Records Clerk

    Reports To: Office Manager

    Department: Records

    Job Purpose

    The Records Clerk helps with all aspects of the Records department. In addition, the Records clerk serves as the primary backup for the receptionist and office services. Working closely with Department Manager to start and complete projects.

    Role of Department

    Records is responsible for maintaining the Firm's records in a complete and orderly manner, according to the organization's filing systems. Using computers, scanners, copiers, and other office equipment. Records maintains, updates, and create new files for the Firm. Also, lend support and assist with requests from all levels staff with project-oriented goals. Supporting the legal staff and clients through handling the day-to-day operations and preparation for Berding & Weils future with Dedication, Integrity, and Excellence.

    Responsibilities & Duties

    Including but not limited to:
    • Daily monitoring and processing of documents.
    • Moving boxes and files for more space efficiency within Records.
    • Copying and scanning within Records Dept.
    • Retrieval of files and documents.
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written with all levels of staff.
    • Serve as primary back up to Receptionist.
    • Assist with Processing and distribution of Mail/Faxes and scanning when necessary (Backup).
    • Occasional local courier services (Backup).
    • Assist conference room set up, and other required duties when needed (Backup).
    Equipment & Systems Required
    • Valid California Drivers License
    • Use and knowledge of scanners, copiers, printers, and other various office equipment
    Qualifications
    • High School/Equivalent or above.
    • Detail-oriented
    • Records keeping, data base experience is a plus.
    • Professional, organized, conscientious, and flexible.
    • Amendable, willing to learn, creative, team player and a desire to help.
    • CPR is a plus.
    • California Drivers License.
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    • Familiarity with Excel, Word and Microsoft suite (Outlook) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Legal documents.
    • Previous exposure to a legal environment is preferred, not required.
