MLA announces an immediate opening for a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist position in the Towson office.

Under the direction of the CFO, responsible for the timely and accurate recording and processing of vendor invoices, check requests, and staff travel reimbursements for payment.

As directed, perform general accounting and administrative duties, as well as assist with the preparation of year-end reports, annual audits, and other tasks.

Tasks assigned to staff accountant may include any or all of, but are not necessarily limited to the following:


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Input data in accounting and payment software and ensure proper assignment of cost centers.
  • Administer accounting principles in accordance with MLA's finance policy and procedure.
  • Prepare accurate accounting reports, invoices, and check requests on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for continued improvement in accounting process and procedures.
  • Serve as the point of contact for office managers and administrative assistants.
  • Interact and resolve issues with MLA units, vendors, and other business contacts.
  • Continue professional development and education through attendance at trainings and other programs sponsored by the Maryland Legal Aid.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the essential functions of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • At least three years of accounts payable experience, five years preferred.
  • Experience with Coupa finance and accounting software preferred.
  • Excellent research, critical thinking, writing, and communication skills.
  • Selfstarter with ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet regular deadlines in a fastpaced environment while balancing a full workload.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service is essential.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Associate's degree required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $51,000 - $70,000.

In addition, MLA provides employees with a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, 2 weeks paid time off, paid sick leave, 14 annual paid holidays, and more.
