Who We Are


Located at lake level in The Edgewater's historic Langdon Building, The Boathouse serves authentic Wisconsin favorites like a Chicken BLT on Stella's Spicy Cheese Bread.

Customers are invited to try our burger stack (a new favorite) or the one-pound lobster roll, relax with a Boathouse Cooler and an appetizer, or enjoy a piece of homemade pie with the family—all while sitting directly on beautiful Lake Mendota.

In addition to serving Madison locals, The Boathouse also caters to guests of our beautiful 4-Star hotel and is the only restaurant in downtown Madison directly on Lake Mendota.

Customers can visit us directly from the lake and tie up their boat on our pier


The Boathouse is a seasonal restaurant looking for motivated individuals to help us run our restaurant beginning opening May 1st and continuing through the month of September.

Training shifts before May 1st are flexible to accommodate individual schedules.

The Boathouse Food Runner plays a vital role in the restaurant - coordinating between the kitchen and service staff to verify that orders are made correctly before delivering them promptly to our guests.

The Food Runner keeps the service staff updated on the timing and delivery of food orders to help ensure complete guest satisfaction.

What You Have

  • Previous experience in a casual or finedining setting is a plus.
  • The focus to ensure correct order taking and prompt service to multiple tables at a time while allowing guests the freedom to customize orders to their needs.
  • A caring, positive attitude with a genuine interest in ensuring our customers have memorable experiences.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the desire to work in a team environment.
  • A selfdriven, entrepreneurial attitude towards achieving your goals.
  • The ability to physically perform the duties required of a restaurant team member including carrying food trays, delivering drinks, carrying drinking glasses, plate ware and flatware through kitchen areas, occasionally moving tables and chairs.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be available for a minimum of 3 shifts per week and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers and management
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve help customer issues or complaints
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull a up to 50lbs
  • Must be available weekends.
  • If you are a student, must have availability over the winter break.

Working Conditions
This position operates in a full-service, professional restaurant environment.

Restaurant Food Runners are required to use standard restaurant equipment such as point-of-sale computers, commercial glassware and plate ware cleaning systems, etc., are required to work in our kitchen areas when receiving food orders and returning dishware.

This position requires evening/weekend work.
