    The Controls and Automation Technician will play a crucial role in driving business growth efforts related to our controls and automation platform.

    This role encompasses both domestic and global initiatives, involving company-owned rigs and third-party assets.


    Responsibilities The role will be responsible for various aspects of project execution, including initial design specifications, rig, and equipment surveys, overseeing system installation and commissioning, and future sustaining and new development efforts.

    Additionally, this role will contribute to the development of innovative technologies aimed at increasing revenue and improving ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) scores through technology deployment.

    It may also involve ongoing customer engagement, and the creation of technical documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, checklists, and best practice documents.

    Lead technical and integration efforts on behalf of the Controls and Automation and Engineering teams for new and existing products.

    Provide support for Engineering and business development activities related to Smart ROS, Rig CLOUD, and ESG opportunities.
    Collaborate with new product development teams to support the commercialization process, with a specific focus on defining deployment procedures.
    Assist project management teams in defining and maintaining metrics to evaluate the impact of proposed integration solutions effectively.
    Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting prototype, beta, and commercial products.
    Raise tickets using tools such as Azure DevOps to escalate software-related problems to the engineering department.

    Issue daily field reports and Job reports to communicate with upper management, peers, and customers on the progress of critical field activities.

    Knowledge and Experience 5 years of experience in controls and automation activities instead of a degree.
    Minimum 3 years of experience working at field locations with direct responsibilities over electrical and/or system control installation.
    Experience working with Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Beckhoff Controllers on industrial applications (Rig installations will be considered a plus).
    Proficient in reading and understanding schematics.
    Familiarity with previous, current, and emerging hardware available in the market.
    Understanding of basic coding principles.
    Experience in electrical control design.

    Ability to take ownership of complex tasks, ensuring the desired outcome of engineering projects establishing priorities and critical milestones, and monitoring the projects toward Engineering objectives.

    Demonstrable experience in the key components of Rig control systems.

    Certifications:

    Industry certifications related to controls and automation, such as Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or similar, would be highly desirable.


    Cross-Functional Experience:

    Experience working in cross-functional teams or departments, particularly in collaboration with sales, product management, and business development, would be advantageous.


    Previous Project Leadership:
    Prior experience in project management roles within automation projects or similar technical initiatives would be a significant advantage.

    Programming Proficiency:
    Advanced coding skills in languages commonly used in automation, such as Python, C++, or Java, would be beneficial.

    ESG Knowledge:

    Familiarity with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and their integration into automation solutions, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practices.


    Technology Innovation:

    A track record of contributing to technological innovation, patents, or publications related to automation and control systems would be an asset.


    International Experience:
    Experience working on international projects or in multicultural environments, demonstrating a global perspective.

    Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Ability to work long hours.
    Travel required (60 to 70%).
    Capacity to work in a field environment.
