Adoptions Supervisor

Position Summary:


This energetic, friendly and self-motivated individual will be responsible for supervising day-to-day operations of the Adoptions team; ensuring positive team morale and high performance; championing our Strategic Plan initiatives and goals; setting an example of Excellent Experience Every time for both customers and internal employees and volunteers; developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training that ensuring adoptions run smoothly; ensuring that all Adoption team members are provided clear expectations, effectively trained, and held accountable; making recommendations to leadership regarding improvements to policies, procedures, workflow, and budgetary impacts; and displaying and leading the team with exceptional customer experience practices and a friendly and enthusiastic attitude at all times.


Essential Functions:


  • Direct and assist in the training, assigning, and overseeing of the duties and responsibilities of the shelter Adoption Team. Ensure duties and responsibilities are being carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with established expectations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure we deliver the highest level of customer experience through quality control of customer service given during the adoption process, and assist in the settling of disputes involving employees and/or the public.
  • Work alongside the Adoptions Team, providing support and guidance in the moment on all aspects of their work including the adoption process, customer service, and operational duties. And, assist with the adoption process by introducing potential owners to available animals, answering questions about each pet's behavior and characteristics, and helping potential owners make informed decisions about which pet is right for them.
  • Approach challenging situations with a positive perspective, helpful attitude, and flexible strategies, seeking the best possible experiences and outcomes for pets and clients.
  • Work with the Manager to provide excellent internal customer experience by managing relationships with AHS departments, supporting and modeling open and transparent communication, and ensuring effective workflow and handoffs.
  • Collaborate with other shelter leaders throughout the organization to address logĂ­stical issues related to flow, space, scheduling, and other shelter concerns.
  • Train new team members and conduct continued education training while ensuring that the training materials and training process of the shelter adoption team is effective and consistently utilized. Also, initiate updates and revisions to the training materials and training process at the direction of the Shelter Adoption Manager.
  • Work with the Manager to identify new approaches, revenue streams, and improvements to increase the number of adoptions and retail sales.
  • Work with Volunteer Engagement Department to supervise adoption volunteers working at each location. Ensure that all volunteers are fully trained on proper procedures relating to adoptions.
  • Assist the Adoptions Manager with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new talent.
  • Utilize metrics to evaluate performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and create goals and engaging contests to drive productivity and exceed personal, team, and organizational targets.

Conduct 1:1s with staff re:
performance, and attendance and initiate progressive discipline process as necessary.

  • Work in partnership with the Adoptions Manager to create development plans and provide mentorship for associates who demonstrate interest and capacity to take on additional and/or higherlevel responsibilities and prepare them for organizational growth.
  • Manage staff schedules, time off requests, and payroll.
  • Support ordering, inventory, and operation of our Petique Retail Store.
  • Ensure all locations are kept clean and neat. All signage is accurate, aesthetically pleasing, and properly displayed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certifications / Licenses:


  • High school diploma / GED required
  • College studies OR degree preferred
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
