    Description

    Job Description

    Summary
    The Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, loading dock, and back-of-house areas. They are also in charge of keeping tableware, glassware, and kitchen equipment clean while minimizing breakage.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Scrape, stack, and clean all dishes properly
    • Store dishes and silver in designated locations
    • Set up the cleaning area correctly
    • Pre-soak silver and change water during peak meal times
    • Sort silver appropriately
    • Keep the dish area clean and tidy
    • Ensure kitchen safety by posting caution signs when necessary
    • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble the dishwasher
    • Organize dirty and clean items before and after shifts
    • Clean kitchen walls, floors, loading docks, and other related areas as needed
    • Dispose of garbage at the proper times
    • Perform other assigned duties

    Qualifications

    • Minimum age requirement: 16 years
    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
    • 6 months to 1 year of back-of-house experience preferred

    Supervision Given and Received
    Given: This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
    Received: Reports directly to the Executive Chef, with tasks assigned according to procedures and frequent check-ins.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Physical abilities required: reaching, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking for extended periods
    • Work conditions: wet, hot, humid environments with potential slippery surfaces
    • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. independently or with assistance
