    Description

    Job Title: Senior Budget Analyst at Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ)


    Job Description:

    • The Sr. Budget Analyst role at DJJ involves providing concise analysis of program and financial operations, including identification of issues and innovative problem-solving techniques.
    • Responsibilities include offering technical support for automated data systems and coordinating specific projects and tasks.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
    • Extensive understanding and oversight of program operations and fiscal practices, policies, and procedures.
    • Familiarity with Commonwealth of Virginia systems like CARDINAL, eVA, and Performance Budgeting.
    • Experience in program budget planning, formulation, evaluation, and execution.
    • Proficiency in managing large data sets through automated systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
    • Ability to ensure accuracy and meet deadlines, analyze data effectively, and provide valuable advice to Department managers.
    • Expertise in communicating both verbally and in writing, and consulting on budget and fiscal matters.
    • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Capability to think strategically, anticipate future agency needs, stay updated with regulations, and negotiate effectively.
    • Exceptional organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    Additional Considerations

    • Training or experience in finance, accounting, public administration, political science, business, financial management, economics, or related fields.
    • Background in financial management within medium to large entities with varied fund sources and budgets.
    • Experience utilizing computer applications for complex analysis.
