Position Overview:


The Custom Wheelchair/Rehabilitation Technician evaluates the patient's clinical need for custom/motorized wheelchairs and other power-operated vehicles as well as the repair of this equipment.

The technician provides quality service to patients.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Complies with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of
  • Current Custom/Motorized Wheelchairs and Power Operated Vehicles and the repair of these devices.
  • Other Rehabilitation equipment (Standing Frames, Walkers etc.)
  • Educate customers in the proper use and care of Custom/Motorized Wheelchairs and Power Operated Vehicles.
  • Completes written patient visit reports and evaluations.
  • Completes and documents repairs on equipment.
  • Works closely with Customer Care Department to ensure services provided are within guidelines and reimbursable when appropriate
  • Processes all orders in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Works closely with equipment vendors to ensure prompt delivery of needed equipment and assists in negotiating quotes for said equipment.
  • Assists with the implementation of quality improvement to meet company, state, federal, and accreditation standards.
  • Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Possesses high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Previous CRT experience or required technical/mechanical/repair skills

Incumbents require sufficient mobility to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; operate office equipment including the use of a computer keyboard; exert required physical effort to perform moderate to heavy physical work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weights; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information.

  • Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility. Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment. Frequently required to bend down at the waist to a torso level of 24" above the floor.

See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.


Hearing:

Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
