    Job Description Project Lead the Way (PLTW)Summary

    The PLTW Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and rigorous coursework in alignment with the PLTW curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a passion for inspiring students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to ensure that PLTW courses are integrated into the school's overall curriculum and instructional practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Deliver PLTW courses, including but not limited to Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.
    • Develop and implement engaging, hands-on lessons that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement and academic success.
    • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate PLTW curriculum into interdisciplinary projects.
    • Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning experiences.
    • Provide timely feedback to students and parents on academic progress.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of PLTW curriculum.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    In addition to role-specific responsibilities, all staff at Kairos "coach" a "pod" of students. Coaching involves checking-in with students 2-3 times throughout the week for 10-15 minutes and updating parents regularly on student progress. Coaches mentor students on executive functioning and social-emotional skills such as setting achievable goals, keeping a to-do list, and navigating the highs and lows of school.

    Technology Skills
    Competence in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use a variety of computer applications and platforms. Ability to use basic office equipment. Knowledge and experience in using a computer-based student Information Management system.

    Safety Duties & Responsibilities
    Every employee of the School has an obligation to know our safety rules and procedures; to teach what they know to others; to recognize unsafe actions and situations; to warn others of unsafe situations; to react to emergency situations and to report hazardous or unsafe practices to those in a position to correct them.
    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM field, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • State teaching certification in relevant subject areas.
    • PLTW certification (or willingness to obtain certification within the first year of employment).
    • Experience teaching high school students in a STEM-related field.
    • Strong knowledge of PLTW curriculum and instructional practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

    Schedule:

    • In-person teaching Monday through Friday 7:30am 4:00pm
      • Some weekends and evenings will be required

    Ability to commute/relocate:

    • Saint Louis, MO 63118: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required). Please note, this is not a remote position. All Kairos teachers are required to deliver in-person instruction onsite, in our school in St. Louis.
