The Operating Room Assistant performs patient and non-patient functions under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse. Duties include but are not limited to transport of patients into and from the Operating Room, assisting with positioning of patient, assisting with the turnover of the OR room by bringing in and removing equipment from the OR rooms, stocking supplies in the OR rooms and maintaining orderliness of supplies and equipment in the OR storage areas, retrieves ordered medications from pharmacy and blood from blood bank, assists in picking cases, reports any equipment in need of repair to the appropriate persons, performs clerical duties and all other duties as assigned


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available
  • Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery
  • Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures
  • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants
  • Monitor patient vital signs during surgery
  • Document accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures
  • Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room
  • Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment

Experience:


  • Previous experience working in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center preferred
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Familiarity with medical records and documentation processes
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, highpressure environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience in patient care within an acute care setting is a plus

Pay:
$36, $55,210.35 per year
