Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is recruiting for a
casual part-time Zookeeper
Aide - Large Carnivore Section** (Relief Zookeeper) position at the Zoo.


Previous animal care experience with large carnivores or similar species is REQUIRED. Experience with bears and large cats is strongly desired.

The total hours per fiscal year (July to June) cannot exceed 999 hours. These are non-benefited positions. The pay begins at $18/hour. Hours are 7:00am-3:30pm (8:00am-4:30 pm in Summer) and includes work on
weekends/holidays.

Casual Part Time Zookeeper Aide (Relief Zookeeper) Position:

Under the direct supervision of the zoo supervisor, perform a variety of duties related to animal care and exhibit maintenance.


Duties include:

  • Relief keeper duties including servicing exhibits, feeding out diets, providing enrichment, and medicating animals.
  • Diet preparation.
  • Animal observations, ethograms.
  • Record keeping using ZIMS.
  • Minor exhibit and grounds maintenance needs.
  • Compliance with zoo safety and animal welfare standards.

Previous animal care experience with large carnivores or other dangerous animals is REQUIRED for this position. Must be 18 years of age or older and have a CA driver's license to apply. You must have availability to work at least two days per week, one of which must be a Saturday or Sunday.
