- Draft, review and provide legal advice regarding customer and supplier contracts for corporate, enterprise and local accounts.
- Provide legal and business guidance to management, sales professionals and other functional units in connection with day-to-day operations.
- Coordinate resolution of business unit needs with other corporate functions such as credit, information technology and finance.
- Coordinate review and completion of Customer Sales, Confidentiality, Consignment, Dedicated Inventory, Equipment Sales/Lease and other Veritiv form agreements.
- Provide legal advice and assistance with requests for proposals and bids, including federal, state and local bids.
- Assist with support of compliance functions including research and tracking of regulatory requirements.
- Proactive, problem-solving approach with a passion for taking initiative and achieving company objectives.
- Excellent writing, critical thinking and interpersonal skills and ability to interact and gain credibility with stakeholders at varying levels of the organization.
- Ability to think both strategically and critically, and give practical advice, appropriately weighing legal and business objectives.
- Willingness to devote necessary time and effort to understand the distribution business with a focus on the packaging, facilities and print industries.
- Minimum 5 years of transactional/commercial law experience with a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department.
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
- 5-10 years of related job experience.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
- Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
- Experienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames.
- Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
- Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong planning and organization skills are required.
- Juris Doctoral Degree
