Description


Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, performs work assignments and serves as a resource person for Cancer Registrars while performing the duties of Certified Cancer Registrar.

Identifies patients who meet reporting requirements through the Case finding process and Abstracts patients in accordance to State and National guidelines; retrieves and analyzes data in accordance with professional ethics; and ensures accurate follow-up is completed on each case.

Generates reports on Tampa General Hospital Cancer Registry data as required by the Coordinator.

Responsible for tasks and standards in compliance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS/CoC), the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS), and any other duties requested and set forth by the Coordinator.

Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.


Qualifications

Required:
High School diploma or GED. Associate's degree in Health Sciences, Health Information Technology or equivalent experience. Certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) through the National Cancer Registrars Association. Active Florida Cancer Data System Cancer Abstractor Code prior to hire.

Preferred:
Experience working as a Cancer Registrar and/or Abstractor in an established cancer program. Experience with computerized cancer registry databases and electronic medical record systems.
