College/Department Information
The Division of Information Technology's mission at Augusta University is to anticipate and respond effectively to a changing world with agile, innovative, robust and secure services that educate and inspire students, empower clinicians, educators, researchers and administrators, advance learning, discovery and care.
This position works under broad supervision from the Director, of IT in the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center, within the standards and guidelines of department and Information Technology Services, and a dotted line supervision from the Manager, School of Science & Cyber.
The AV Technologist 1 will set up and operate variety of instructional technologies, video conferencing, and AV equipment collaborating with faculty and staff with an emphasis on excellent customer service; will provide clear, concise and diplomatic communication to resolve issues on all aspects of rich media presentations; and will work as an integral part of the instructional support team to support collaborative learning and presentations for a wide range of pedagogical and special event activities.
ResponsibilitiesThe duties include but are not limited to:
ASSISTANCE AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
Sets up, tests, and facilitates use of audio/visual systems, distance learning systems, lecture capture systems, teleconferencing systems, computers, software, and related technology to support classroom teaching, meetings, and special events; Provides assistance and technical support to presenters to ensure successful presentations and use of audio/visual systems.
AUDIO/VISUAL EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS:
Conducts periodic inspections of audio/visual equipment and classroom technologies to proactively identify potential issues and minimize risks to the client's effective us e of audio/visual systems, distance learning systems, teleconferencing systems, and related technologies.
INSTRUCTION AND SPECIAL EVENTS:
Monitors and supports live delivery of instruction and special events utilizing teleconferencing, live-streaming, and distance learning technologies.
DIAGNOSE AND RESOLVE:
Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software issues.
HELP DESK RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and updates assigned Help Desk tickets (incidents) in Remedy, finding resolution and closing.
OTHER/
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Performs other duties as needed/assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and one year related experience OR High School diploma, GED or equivalent from a State or Federal accredited organization and three years related experience; Valid state drivers license required to operate AU vehicles.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in IT, computer repair, electronics, audio-visual, engineering or related area.
InfoComm-Recognized AV Technologist Certificate OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science and one year related field experience.
A+ Certification. Working knowledge of problem tracking software. Understanding of Tier level support organizations. Knowledge of the campus/hospital network infrastructure.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, documentation and schematics.
Ability to conduct research into hardware and software troubleshooting.
