    SUMMARY OF POSITION:
    Assess and treat persons with hearing, balance, and related disorders, including fitting and servicing amplification. May perform research related to hearing problems.


    Responsibilities

    • The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%.
    • Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
    • Maintain patient records at all stages, including initial and subsequent evaluation and treatment activities.
    • Evaluate and monitor hearing and balance disorders to determine diagnoses and courses of treatment.
    • Plan and conduct treatment programs for patients' hearing or balance problems, consulting with educators, physicians, nurses, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other health care personnel, as necessary.
    • Recommend, fit, dispense, and repair assistive devices, such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and osseointegrated devices.
    • Counsel and instruct patients and their families in techniques to improve communication related to hearing loss.
    • Instruct patients, parents, teachers, or employers in communication strategies to maximize effective receptive communication.
    • Refer patients for additional medical or educational services, if needed.
    • Participate in the education and training of audiology interns and/or externs, ENT residents, APPs, and other relevant professional.
    • Participate in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing or balance disorder treatment methods or technologies.
    • Advise educators or other medical staff on hearing or balance topics.

    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES-

    • The percentage of time spent performing secondary functions is 5%.

    • The following duties are considered secondary to the essential duties listed above:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

    • Au.
    D. or Ph.
    D. in audiology, or master's degree if allowed by grandfathering laws


    • Current license to practice audiology in Pennsylvania

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

    • Experience with implantable devices, electrophysiology, and/or vestibular evaluations/treatment.
