    Description
    Under the supervision of Unit Clinical Manager and Nurses:
    • Answers all incoming phone calls and call lights promptly, taking and relaying messages to staff.
    • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
    • Transports specimens to lab.
    • Assures adequate supplies are maintained on the clinical unit.
    • Notifies Environmental Services of linen needs and patient transfers/discharges.
    • Communicates with ancillary departments involved in the care of patient.
    • Copies appropriate patient information for patient transfers per nurses' instructions.
    • Notifies business office of all patient room changes, discharges and transfers.
    • Makes phone calls to specialists and hospitals as requested.
    • Follows up on pending test (radiology, lab, respiratory) request to assure prompt receipt, reporting any problems or delays to nurse and physician.
    • Notifies nurse/physician when lab results arrive.
    • Assist with data collection for monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting.
    • Informs Unit Clinical Manager of any problems/concerns that might affect daily function of the unit.
    • Adheres to organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Participates in continuing education and attends all departmental staff meetings.
    • Organizes and prioritizes work in a manner consistent with safe, efficient and cost-effective resource utilization.
    • Demonstrates support for the mission/vision of the organization.
