    **Server Administrator I**

    Location Department Position Reports To Location: Raleigh, NC Department: Information Systems Position Reports To: Distributed Systems Supervisor ** General Definition**

    The Server Administrator I is responsible for administration and first level support of distributed systems, including Windows Server, VMWare, Exchange, Linux, and associated systems. Responsibilities will include Websphere maintenancedeployment and troubleshooting, Active Directory account maintenance, building Windows and Linux servers in both physical and virtual environments. Position is also responsible for system monitoring and escalation to senior staff when issues occur.

    ** Major Duties of Position**

    Use defined procedures and standards to create, delete, and modify user accounts within Windows 2016 Active Directory domain and Exchange 2016 email system.

    Schedule and deploy applications in Websphere to include verification and troubleshooting.

    Use reporting and tracking information from email gateways and Exchange to ensure legitimate email delivery.

    Use defined procedures and standards to create, delete, and modify email distribution lists.

    Review server/software logs and notify senior staff of potential issues.

    Administer access to resources using group memberships, Active Directory permissions or other methodologies.

    Produce clear and concise documentation.

    Participate in the installation and maintenance of server hardware/software including updates and application software.

    Provide monthly status reports to supervisor.

    Develop and maintain positive relationships with all IS users and staff .

    Work with helpdesk and workstation support to solve end-user problems and assist in workstation load creation.

    Provide rotating 24/7 on-call support.

    Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required.

    ** Education & Certifications**

    Degree in Computer Science, equivalent four-year degree, technical school or comparable work experience.

    Microsoft Certified Systems Associate preferred.

    IBM Certified System Administrator Websphere Application Server preferred.

    ** Experience**

    WebSphere or other Application /Integration middleware necessary.

    Understanding of basic maintenance tasks in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.

    Proficient in Microsoft 2008/2012/2016 Server Operating systems.

    Experience with installation, maintenance and management of server hardware and applications.

    Exposure to Microsoft Exchange 2016 environments.

    Experience with VMWare or other virtual environment equivalent .

    Experience with Linux administration and familiarity with both GNOME and command line environments is preferred .

    Familiarity with Java, .Net or IIS a plus.
