Position Summary:

Assist in planning, implementing, and promoting activities to enhance quality of life for all residents. Facilitate community involvement through volunteerism. Safely transport residents in community bus or other vehicle according to schedule.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Assist in completing activitiesrelated evaluations on new residents (e.g., Activities Questionnaire and Social/Spiritual Data).
  • Assist in consulting residents on a regular basis, both individually and in resident group meetings, to ascertain activity preferences.
  • Assist in planning and implementing activities of sufficient variety and at sufficient frequency, with activity categories to include but not be limited to physical, creative expression, cultural, creative, recreational, social, spiritual, and community service.
  • Assure that activities are offered as scheduled or, if cancelled, that appropriate alternatives are offered.
  • Assist in assuring an active Ambassadors program, including Welcome Club and other resident community service groups.
  • Inform residents of daily activities.
  • Invite residents to activities.
  • Maintain activities portion of Osborn Visual system.
  • Lead activities as required or necessary.
  • Instruct other staff members to effectively lead activities with approval.
  • Facilitate socialization among residents.
  • Assist in preparing monthly community newsletter, including monthly activities calendar, and submit by deadline.
  • Assist in distributing monthly community newsletter to residents.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating activities routinely as well as for special events, holidays, and seasons, and assist with decoration of community.
  • Assist in recruitment of volunteers to meet community needs.
  • Assist in instructing and supervising volunteers.
  • Assist in planning and implementing community volunteer recognition program.
  • Assure activity areas, as well as any activity supply storage areas, are clean and organized.
  • Assist in planning and implementing community bus or other vehicle schedules in conjunction with other staff.
  • Assist in ordering activities supplies and arranging activities services, adhering to activities department budget.
  • Assist with proper use of fitness equipment. Promptly reports any apparent problems with fitness equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining records of resident participation in activities as required by state or provincial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
***- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Obtain authorization from Brightwater to drive company vehicles.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain CPR and first aid certification.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
