Description
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY AND TWO (2) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES ALL IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKWAYS.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.
The purpose of this position is to safely and efficiently operate a Sky Worker Bucket Truck for the principal task of trimming and cutting down trees, and to perform minor maintenance and servicing of the assigned equipment in accordance to existing safety programs, work standards, and procedures.
Besides operating a Sky Worker Bucket Truck, the operator will be required to inspect and maintain the equipment's tire inflation; oil levels; leaks (oil, fuel, water, etc.); coolant in radiator; lights and signal devices; clear and clean windows, lamp lenses, mirrors; and functioning windshield wipers.
May also be required to operate all equipment assigned to lower level Equipment Operators, as well as all equipment assigned to the level of Equipment Operator IV, as assigned by the department.
Performs related work as required.This position is also an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.
Please Note:
All of the current vacancy requires a valid Louisiana Class B Commercial Driver's License.
However, future Equipment Operator IV - Skyworker vacancies may require possession of a valid Louisiana Class A Commercial Driver's License depending on the assigned vehicles in order to perform the tasks associated with the vacancy.
Possession of a current Louisiana Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License (CDL)* and an acceptable driving record; PLUS, applicants must meet one (1) of the following:Copies of licenses and certificates awarded for completion of training should be submitted with application.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
NON-COMPETITIVE - All persons meeting the stated requirements on this announcement will be issued an Employment Eligibility Letter for Equipment Operator IV (Sky Worker) and have their name forwarded to appointing authorities when vacancies arise.
