Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse in LDRP and LDRPN Departments at CHRISTUS Health

Summary:

Responsible for assessing patients, creating care plans, and delivering high-quality nursing care to an assigned group of patients during a defined shift. Provides guidance and supervision to LVN/LPNs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other clinical/clerical associates. May also serve as a charge nurse when required. Focuses on providing care to various patient groups, including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatric, and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities:

Meets expectations of the relevant OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Develops comprehensive nursing care plans based on assessments.
Prepares nursing components of interdisciplinary care plans before team conferences.
Implements patient care according to care plans and sets priorities based on patient needs.
Evaluates patient responses to interventions and adjusts goals as necessary.
Provides education to patients and their families, acts as a role model, preceptor, and assists in orienting new staff members.
Maintains open communication within the care team, ensures patient confidentiality, and identifies and reports unsafe practices.

Communicates findings to the healthcare team and develops individualized care plans.
Monitors patient progress, facilitates patient flow, and ensures compliance with standards and procedures.
Maintains equipment, assesses staffing needs, and promotes safe practices and quality care.
Adheres to healthcare laws and regulations, incorporates patient safety practices, and provides evidence-based care.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Follows clinical standards and procedures, ensures documentation accuracy, and troubleshoots equipment.
Processes medical orders, reads and interprets patient charts, ensures patient safety, documents incidents, and participates in investigations.

Requirements:

Experience:

1 year of specialized nursing experience preferred, particularly in a perinatal setting.

Education:

Preferably holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire and all required competencies.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

Must have RN Licensure in state of employment or compact.
BLS certification required.
Current certification in NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN courses.
