Vitalant is currently seeking a results-driven
Vice President of Clinical and Research Quality Services responsible for the strategic oversight and direction of quality and operational excellence.

As the VP of Clinical Research and Quality Services, your scope will cover a variety of clinical and research activities, including biotherapies, reference lab and quality management.

You will play a pivotal part in fostering strong relationships, facilitating business outcomes, and ensuring enhanced performance.

This position is in the office 3 days a week and work from home 2 days a week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation and implementation of the Quality System for Clinical and Research activities throughout the enterprise.
  • Provide direction on interpreting and adhering to applicable regulations and standards.
  • Influence and ensure continuous compliance with regulations, keeping leadership informed of compliance status, system issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop processes for analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with leadership to drive process changes and ensure effective deployment and sustainability of corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Clinical and Research leadership to design innovative processes and select optimal equipment, software, and materials for efficient process design.
  • Work with Quality leadership to develop and maintain effective methods and software for quality monitoring.
  • Oversee assessments of Clinical and Research activities for compliance, analyzing audit results, identifying trends, and keeping leadership informed.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Participate in final decisions regarding the evaluation of nonconforming products, materials, or test results.
  • Collaborate with operational areas to identify business growth opportunities based on compliance and adherence to standards.
  • Guide the development of processes to meet identified standards.

Knowledge/ Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Masters or advanced degree in business, management, or health care preferred.


Knowledge of local, state, national, and international regulations as they relate to the blood industry, research, biotherapies, quality, and manufacturing activities required.

Knowledge of computer environments, standard development, and system life cycle methodology preferred.


Licenses/ Certifications
CMQOE, CQA, RA, PM and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.


Certification as a Medical Technologist, Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) or Biotherapies Specialist by a recognized certifying agency or RN licensure preferred.


Experience
Ten years of related experience in a regulated industry required


To include:

  • Six years of leadership experience.
  • Six years of experience in quality, regulatory, and/or auditing.
Five years of experience in clinical leadership role (laboratory, nursing, etc.) preferred.

Previous experience supporting a multi-location environment preferred.

Must have a participative management style, strong team development, coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate senior and executive-level managers.

Must possess outstanding leadership ability, be decisive, demonstrate sound judgment, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
