Position Description


The Salesforce Platform Developer reports to the Director for Software Development and Operation and is responsible for design, hands-on development and maintenance of software solutions built in the Salesforce ecosystem with its out-of-box development platforms such as SFDX and OmniStudio.

This role will be a part of Agile development practice team in the SDLC.

This role will also work closely with developers and QA engineers in the Platform Solutions team, but also collaborates with IT managers, client stakeholders, and end users from departments across the Division to accomplish the development objectives.


Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop: Responsible for design, handson development and maintenance of endtoend solutions, including Salesforce CRM lightning experience configuration and customization using best practices and security standards, and leveraging Salesforce development frameworks in OmniStudio, Apex, Lightning Web Components, Experience Builder, Flows, etc. This role understands business requirements / user stories and translates them into technical design & actionable software within Salesforce environment.
  • DevOps: Practice the standard SFDX sourcedriven development approach and CI/CD deployment pipeline driving the primary development workflow with DevOps tools such as Gearset and bitbucket. Code version control and branching management, PR code review and adhoc deployments with metadata types are common practices.
  • Unit and

Regression Testing:
Develop unit tests in Apex testing framework to ensure the feature deliveries under the standard code coverage. Collaborate with QA engineers to develop test cases for QA automation testing. Work closely with business clients and the end users to validate that the deliveries meet the requirements.

  • Integrate: Integrate with the onprem and external systems by REST APIs, web hooks and ETL processes. Work closely with the Platform Integration team to identify the API communication, data elements, logic and interface definitions.
  • Collaborate: Participate in Agile development practices such as user story development, standup, backlog grooming, sprint planning and retrospective.
  • Document: Ongoing documentation throughout the development also forms a major role of the Salesforce Developer. This can be communicated with the Salesforce admin so that they are prepared for any customer interaction/support issues.
  • Production Support & Maintenance: Help to monitor, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software and system issues. Includes performing root cause analysis and data cleanup.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' postsecondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • BA/BS preferred
  • Certified Salesforce Platform Developer credential
  • Experience and knowledge of configuring and managing the Salesforce Lightning Experience environments.
  • Expert development skill set in Salesforce development frameworks including OmniStudio, Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL and Apex Unit Test Frameworks.
  • Expert experience development and configuring Salesforce Community Sites with Experience builder and the standard web development coding languages in HTML and JavaScript (ES5 standard).
  • Familiar with Salesforce DevOps tools such as Gearset for deployments with DX sourcedriven approach and with the common source control platforms such as Atlassian Bitbucket or Github.
  • Working knowledge of Web Service Integration using SOAP, REST, OData and Salesforce APIs.
  • Familiar with Agile development practices such as Scrum process and standards such as sprint planning, user story development, standups, etc.

Work Format Details
This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. Hybrid workplace models in place at DCE with a minimum of 2 days per week on campus. DCE may adjust these as necessary or appropriate.
