    Job Description

    The Director, Energy Trading Program will recruit students, serve as a liaison with oil and gas companies and secure internship opportunities for students in program, serve as chair of the ETP advisory board, solicit additional funding for the program; time to time will review the curriculum and recommend changes; will also teach specialized courses on energy trading and risk management.

    This position is funded by grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

    Responsibilities:
    • Serves as a central point of contact between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative matters; assists with seminars, meetings, special projects, and/or general problem resolution. Ensure policies and guidelines are followed.
    • Collaborates with industry advisory boards or councils and Prairie View A&M University ("PVAMU") departments for the development and continual improvement of ETP. Make recommendations for change as needed.
    • Performs faculty duties as a College Instructor for specialized ETP courses, namely, Trade Floor Dynamics, Trading Risk Management, and Internship course (one course per semester)- curriculum refinement, teaching, coordination with visiting board members, etc.
    • Mentors and supports students throughout their time in ETP, as appropriate - providing guidance and preparation for application and admittance, inspiring confidence in and a passion for the energy industry, developing professional relationships to understand unique student strengths and gaps, etc.
    • Maintains confidentiality of information in the course of business regarding students, supervisors, board members, or other employees.
    • Coordinates meetings, conferences, or special activities.
    • Provides specialized administrative support in the development, implementation, and ongoing marketing of ETP.
    • Serves as the champion for ETP. Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of course catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program, in partnership with the ETP Board and PVAMU.
    • Performs or delegates clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, scheduling and planning events, reports, program handbooks, and other publications.
    • May recruit, train, and supervise student employees, volunteers, and administrative support staff. Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and/or volunteers engaged in the implementation and administration of program objectives as resources dictate.
    • Monitors and administers program/project revenues and expenses; may develop or participate in the development of funding proposals for the program, as appropriate.
    • Maintains mandatory ETP student and program statistics and records; prepares regular and ad-hoc reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant data from a variety of sources.
    • May perform specialized activities of a programmatic nature in direct support of the accomplishment of program objectives and protocol.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Required Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
    • Ten years of related experience in management.
    • Appropriate academic credentials to teach within the program area.
    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Previously supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
    • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree preferred.
    • At least 10 years of industry experience directly related to energy commodities trading.
    • A deep understanding of energy commodities (e.g. natural gas, power and renewables, oil and products, etc.) and trading mechanics (e.g. futures, derivatives, swaps and options, etc.)
    • Experience mentoring and/or teaching in a supervisory capacity.
    • Program and project management experience.
