    ABOUT THIS POSITION Approximately 48 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city.

    Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $38 billion annually.

    The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and talented individual for our Terminal Operations Coordinator (Aviation Supervisor II) at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

    This position interacts heavily with airport operations, the Airport Duty Manager, airlines, and vendors while collaborating with outside organizations, government agencies, and command center staff.

    The focus of the role will be to ensure an enhanced passenger experience by being responsible for overseeing the stability and efficiency of airport and airline operations within the terminal buildings.

    This position will supervise Terminal Operations staff and will be responsible for managing administrative tasks and other functions necessary for consistent and optimal airport operational performance.

    This position will report to the Terminal Operations Manager.

    Duties for the Terminal Operations Coordinator position include:
    Coordinate all activities within the terminal buildings and on the airport's common use infrastructure. Collaborate with the Airport Duty Manager, airlines, command center staff, and other stakeholders. Manage the airline scheduling, aircraft gate resources, passenger check-in counters, baggage carousel usage, and flight information displays. Streamline work processes to facilitate quick response to common use issues, audit compliance, and updating Aviation rules and regulations.

    Work closely with field staff to continuously develop new ways to enhance the passenger experience and the airport's terminal operations and common use systems.

    Overseeing and managing the Airport's Management System, analyzing flight data, providing necessary reports, and inputting airline flight schedules for tenants utilizing the common use platform.

    Assist in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient common use facility operations; international flight operations and compliance with International and Customs and Border Protection processing standards.

    Work with Transportation Security Administration security requirements as they relate to a common use environment; while providing general direction to airlines and staff on common use baggage handling system operations.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and nights. Ability to demonstrate results focused and solution-driven approach to problem solving.

    Ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of an organization and use critical decision-making in either an emergency and/or non-emergency environment.

    Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a high-paced, multi-faceted, team-oriented environment. Exceptional oral and written communications skills. Excellent analytical skills with an ability to function in a communications/call center-type environment. Advanced situational awareness and conceptual skills to maximize the efficient use of Airport common use and terminal facilities. Knowledge of airline flight scheduling information, FIDs, BIDs, GIDs, and similar common use, passenger facing information.


    SALARY Pay Range:
    $24.93 to $47.01 per hour

    Hiring Range:
    $24.93 to $35.08 per hour

    One year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Other combinations of education and experience which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.     Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.

    Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
    Experience with airport management software, Microsoft office systems, data entry, and file management. Experience in airport operations (general aviation or commercial), airline operations, military airfield/flight operations, and/or pilot training. Experience in high-volume, face-to-face, and/or telephone-based customer contact, seamless service, and/or improving operations and efficiency. Experience in an airport setting or fast-paced environment with high-level responsibility and life safety/security/property loss implications.

    Experience with interpreting and/or enforcing airport rules and regulations pertaining to, airport operations, Federal Aviation Administration, Customs and Border Protection, and Transportation Security Administration regulations.

    Aviation industry credentials including but not limited to, Airport Certified Employee (ACE) credentials, Certified Member (CM) credentials, Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) credentials, and any other aviation industry credentials.
