Minimum qualifications are as follows:


  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • A valid driver's license (Must obtain a Class B CDL within the first 12 months of employment)

In addition, the applicant must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to pass pre-employment and annual physical examinations.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, crouch, stoop, lift objects up to 50 pounds, and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 1. Installs, removes, repairs and maintains water and sewer lines, installs water meters, replaces defective meters, cleans sewer lines, flushes hydrants
  • 2. Operates trucks of varying sizes (dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck) in a safe and efficient manner
  • 3. Safely and efficiently operates various power and hand tools
  • 4. Performs maintenance and replacement of storm drain inlets and pipe when needed
  • 5. Performs trash run emptying City-Owned trash receptacles when oncall
  • 6. Performs snow removal
  • 7. Reads water meter indicator electronically as required
  • 8. Records readings, calculate consumption and notes any unusual changes in consumption or malfunctions such as leaks or damaged meters
  • 9. Inspects meters and connections for defects, damage, unauthorized connection or use; reports findings to supervisor
  • 10. Responds to service calls in a timely manner
  • 11. Provides exceptional customer service especially to City residents
  • 12. Installs, removes, repairs and maintains sidewalks, curbs, gutters, roads, and storm drains
  • 13. Performs maintenance and replacement of storm drain inlets and pipe
  • 14. Trims trees
  • 15. Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • A valid driver's license
