    Overview

    The Cook at KABIN showcases top-notch culinary skills, professionalism, cleanliness, and food safety. This role involves smooth interactions with colleagues and management.



    What You'll Do

    • Prepare and cook dishes following recipes and standards for consistent, high-quality plates.
    • Work with kitchen team to keep a clean and organized workspace, complying with food safety and sanitation guidelines.
    • Help train new kitchen staff members, offering support to ensure a seamless transition into their roles.
    • Show hospitality and professionalism to colleagues and guests, enhancing the dining experience.
    • Follow opening and closing procedures meticulously, including completing all necessary side work before and after shifts.
    • Emphasize cleanliness, punctuality, and reliability in daily tasks, reflecting the values of the establishment and the local community.
    • Look for ways to elevate guest experience through attention to detail and exceptional service.
    • Aid in organizing private and semi-private events, supporting planning and execution.
    • Maintain accurate kitchen records, including inventory levels and production logs.
    • Collaborate with management to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to schedules.
    • Work within budget constraints and contribute to cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
    • Stay updated on menu offerings, participating in tastings and feedback sessions.
    • Communicate effectively with team and management to improve kitchen operations.
    • Seize opportunities for personal and professional growth through additional training.
    • Assist with various duties as assigned by kitchen management to boost team and establishment success.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • 1-2 years of back-of-house experience in a high-volume NYC restaurant.
    • Familiarity with KABIN's culinary and hospitality philosophy and menus.
    • Understanding of standard restaurant service procedures, including wine service.
    • Familiarity with allergens and workplace priorities.
    • Must be punctual and available for varied shifts.
    • Ability to speak multiple languages, such as English and Spanish, is beneficial.


    Health & Safety

    • NYC Food Handler's Certification required.
    • Adherence to food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and hygiene standards.
    • Compliance with COVID-19 sanitation protocols.
    • Following time and temperature guidelines.


    Work Environment

    • Requires standing and walking throughout the shift.
    • Involves manual handling of objects.
    • Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
    • Regular lifting, moving, and carrying of items weighing at least 50 pounds.
