Job Summary


Utility B is responsible for reading residential and commercial gas meters and recording readings using handheld computers via walking and mobile routes.

Meter readers also interact with customers to gain access to premises and answer questions as required while completing routine meter inspections and performing collections work.

Company vehicles are provided.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reading residential and commercial meters and recording readings using handheld computers via walking and mobile routes.
  • Complete routine meter work and inspections.
  • Perform collections, CWIPs, miscellaneous orders, etc.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug test and physical.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license during course of employment.
  • Must be able to follow all Company safety policies and procedures and protect Company assets.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervision, fellow employees, customers and public.
  • Must be able to complete walking and/or driving routes daily in all weather conditions.
  • General Computer Knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively read maps, service records, etc.
  • Ability to use general hand tools.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid PA Drivers License
  • Basic mechanical experience
