    Position Summary:


    The School of Nursing invites applications for the Faculty position for the Advanced Practice Nurse, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program.

    Participation in teaching, student advising and professional service is expected. The position is full-time (12 mo.), nontenure-track at the rank of assistant professor.


    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Actively participates in the development and evaluation of curriculum, course content, clinical experiences, and test construction
    • Is responsible for didactic courses and/or clinical group sizes appropriate to the area of clinical practice
    • Plans and supervises clinical seminars
    • Establishes effective coordinating relationships with co-workers and clinical agencies
    • Continues education for professional growth
    • Conducts continuing education offerings
    • Participates in academic advising and guidance of students
    • Maintains office hours
    • Participates in the faculty organization and appropriate program, college, and university activities
    • Serves on assigned and elected program, college, and university committees
    • Sponsors and promotes planned activities of students, programs, college, and university as requested
    • Contributes to the community through involvement in and/or consultation with health-related organizations, board memberships, or professional presentations to the public
    • Participates in planning for the continued growth and progress of the program through faculty and student recruitment and retention efforts
    • Holds membership and participates in organizations that advance the profession of nursing and advanced practice nursing
    • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    Maintains skills and ability to function as faculty for clinical and didactic courses.


    Knowledge of curriculum design, strategies to promote student learning, assessment and evaluation of learning, evidence-based education principles, advanced practice nursing skills, and a commitment to life-long learning.

    Possesses interpersonal and communication skills necessary to teach as part of a faculty team.


    General Days/Hours:
    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Monday - Friday.

    Flexible schedule for clinical practice

    Additional hours as requested and/or needed

    Regular and reliable attendance

    12-15 credit hour teaching workload

    Minimum Qualifications:
    An Earned Doctorate Degree in nursing required

    Academic experience required

    Three to five (3-5) years of verified practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required

    Holds unencumbered RN/APRN (or eligible) License in Arkansas

    Current certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by a national certifying body
