Educators - Are you looking for your next employment opportunity? We have a great group of kids who are just waiting for a positive role model who is interested in STEM to come into their lives.

Our learning center, which takes up 3 rooms in a wing of our facility, is a vibrant place that is full of tools and equipment that can be used to engage the minds of young people.

Our goal is to provide a place where all of the fun experiments and activities that public schools no longer have time for can take place every day after school.

If you have a strong imagination and if you like variety in your day and control over your curriculum, this would be a great spot for you.

The position is year round and includes 40 hours per week. Full time hours include mostly weekday afternoons with some early evening time included in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Pay is $42,000 to $46,000 based on experience and skill set.


Start date:
late June 2021.

Health Insurance from Allways and Dental Insurance from Delta is available and is 80% employer funded, Life Insurance and Short and Long Term Disability are 100% employer funded.

5% employer funded pension is available after 1 year. 2 weeks paid vacation is provided along with a generous allotment of personal and sick time

A. Core Competencies

  • Experience tutoring small and large groups of children ages 61
  • The ability to work well as a part of a team and communicate effectively with other staff members and parents;
  • Must be trustworthy, responsible, enthusiastic, creative, energetic and dependable;
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and time management efficiency and be able to balance many tasks at one time;
  • Can effectively supervise support staff, volunteers and interns and evaluate their skills;
  • Must be able to maintain a clean and safe environment;
  • Demonstrates creativity and persistence in problemsolving and designing program content;
  • Has a good understanding of child developmental needs of elementary and middle school age children.
  • Is technology and STEM savvy

Job Functions

  • Assist in the promotion and interpretation of the Club philosophies, methods and accomplishments as it relates to programming.
  • Provide employment, health, life skills and training opportunities to Club members using needsbased and interestbased programs.
  • Assist with the promotion and implementation of all other program initiatives that reinforce a positive selfidentity.
  • Participate in Club staff and advisory meetings to ensure members interests and concerns are addressed in a manner consistent with, and in conformance with, the mission and policies of the Boys & Girls Club of Newton.
  • Serve as a positive adult role model at all Club, local and national events.
  • Assist with any additional projects as assigned by Club management.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in Club's employee handbook and elsewhere.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of three years working with children and adolescents, with at least one year of program management experience, preferably in designing and implementing programs for club members.

Abilities

  • Excellent human relations, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and the Internet.
  • Ability to collaborate with other communitybased organizations and social service agencies.
  • Knowledge of programs and resources available to create a wellrounded program and the ability to establish positive peer working relationships.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Physical requirements include:
sight, hearing, standing for more than four hours each day, other physical requirements needed to complete essential functions of the position and other duties as assigned


Necessary mental requirements include:
concentration and focus on outreach and membership objectives.
