    Position Overview

    We are on the hunt for a seasoned API/Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in developing and maintaining backend services and APIs, with a strong foundation in JavaScript. You'll be at the forefront of building scalable and performant backend systems that fuel our web and mobile applications, making an impact with your work on a daily basis.

    Location

    Though we do support a remote work environment, our preference is candidates that are located in Utah. However we are open to remote employees in the following states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Texas. Please only apply if you live or are willing to relocate (at your own expense) to one of these states.

    What You'll Do

    • Enhance and maintain our AWS AppSync GraphQL API, ensuring high performance and exceptional user experience throughout our application.
    • Build and manage Lambda functions to create highly responsive and scalable backend services, supporting our serverless architecture.
    • Develop and optimize SQL queries with a focus on geospatial data, enabling data integrity and performance.
    • Design and implement asynchronous ETL processes that facilitate seamless data integration and transformation.
    • Embrace serverless AWS solutions, leveraging the latest technologies to build and maintain a modern, efficient backend infrastructure.
    • Work closely with front-end engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver a cohesive and integrated user experience, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation.

    What You Bring

    • Proven experience in developing and maintaining AWS AppSync GraphQL APIs with a keen understanding of GraphQL's benefits and challenges.
    • Strong background in SQL, particularly with geospatial data and functionalities, enabling you to contribute to location-based features effectively.
    • Experience in writing, deploying, and managing AWS Lambda functions, demonstrating your ability to work within a serverless architecture.
    • Proficiency in AppSync, NodeJS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
    • Expertise in writing optimized Postgres queries for large datasets, ensuring data performance and scalability.
    • Knowledge of asynchronous ETL processes, with experience in designing and implementing solutions that improve data flow and processing.
    • Exceptional problem solving abilities and attention to detail, capable of addressing complex challenges and delivering high-quality solutions.
    • A passion for continuous learning and improvement in backend development practices, keeping abreast of the latest trends and technologies.
