General Summary: The Quality Control Specialist (QCS) is responsible for performing daily inspections on telecommunications installations for both outside plant and inside plant projects. The primary purpose of these inspections is to identify the root cause(s) of substandard work or incorrectly installed elements on ongoing projects in the field and help coordinate corrective actions. The ideal candidate should, at a minimum, have a high degree of field-level technical skills related to the telecom industry and experience in leadership, quality expectations, customer care, workflow, and operational processes. This position will require fieldwork which could include weekends and off-hours. Travel may be required, as needed (up to 20%)

Essential Duties:

• Inspections of field work related to the telecom industry including, but not limited to, outside plant fiber optic cable installations and splicing operations as well as inside plant structured cabling, fiber/copper cable termination, rack/cabinet installation, overhead conveyance installation, and hot aisle containment

• Development and execution of quality inspection tools and documentation necessary for record keeping and corrective action efforts

• Daily submission of quality control reports including observations, inspection checklists and corrective actions

• As needed submission of documentation including, but not limited to, punch lists, incident reports and corrective drawings

• Coordination of corrective action steps including real-time feedback to Foremen and technicians in a positive manner as well as listening attentively to improve the overall commitment and delivery of quality in the field

• Identification of root causes for deficiencies to improve quality, safety and training practices in the field

• Leadership discussions with Project Managers and the Training, Safety and Quality Team to facilitate the documentation of Lessons Learned and Best Practices

• Analyze QA data to identify trends. Partner with Training Team to develop learning and development solutions to address QA trends

• Consultation with Project Managers, General Foremen, Foremen and Leads to ensure project needs, plans and methods are understood and align with quality expectations

• Personal execution of all required safety certifications and commitment to ongoing technical skills training necessary for the accurate assessment and understanding of fieldwork

• Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned

Requirements:

• Proven work experience with a minimum of 7+ years in the field performing related scopes of work in the telecom industry

• Preferred 5+ years of Telecommunications industry knowledge with fiber optic installation expertise

• Familiarity with industry standards including, BICSI/NECA, ISO/IEC and ANSI/TIA

• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability required
• Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities in a timely manner while maintaining a strong attention to detail

• Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and work with a team in fast-paced, dynamic environments

• Detail oriented and ability to make sound decisions based on given information

• Strong interpersonal skills including a can-do attitude even under pressure

• Proficiency with Apple and/or Android operating systems and various applications

• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Sharepoint

Physical Requirements:
• Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; lift 75lbs; work in all weather conditions.
