    Description

    Lead Data Engineer, (Python, Java or Scala)

We are looking for Data Engineers who are excited about combining data with cutting-edge technologies. As a Lead Data Engineer at Capital One, you'll play a key role in leading a significant transformation within the company.

    What You'll Do:

    • Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies
    • Develop Data Models for streaming and batch systems to streamline data processes during critical modernization efforts
    • Work with a team of developers specializing in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems
    • Utilize programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, and various databases to create Cloud-based data infrastructures and pipelines
    • Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, engage in tech communities, and mentor other engineering team members
    • Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that provide empowering financial experiences for millions of users
    • Conduct unit tests and code reviews to ensure high-quality, high-performance code

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Minimum of 6 years of application development experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in big data technologies
    • Minimum of 2 years of Data Modeling experience for batch or streaming data
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience with cloud computing platforms

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Over 7 years of application development experience in Python, SQL, Scala, or Java
    • Over 4 years of experience with public Cloud platforms
    • Over 4 years of experience with Distributed data tools like MapReduce, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
    • Over 4 years of experience working on real-time data and streaming applications
    • Over 4 years of experience with NoSQL databases and data warehousing
    • Over 4 years of UNIX/Linux experience including shell scripting
    • Over 2 years of experience with Agile engineering practices
