Certified Medical Assistant at the
Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms in Twentynine Palms, CA.

Job Requirements:

Degree/Education: Must possess a certification or associate's degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited program.

Certifications: Required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Experience: Preferably have clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting, handling tasks such as injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, etc.
-
Licensure/Registration: Must hold a current, unrestricted medical assistant certification applicable to the state of employment.

Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems is also required.


Responsibilities:

-
Clinical Duties: Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Responsibilities may include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures, and preparing patients for examination.

Patient Interaction: Instruct patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, and draw blood.

Administrative Duties: Answer telephones, greet patients, update and file patient medical records, fill out insurance forms, handle correspondence, schedule appointments, and arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services.

Equipment and Supplies Management: Ensure that exam rooms are stocked with adequate supplies and maintain instruments; sterilize medical instruments as required.

Compliance and Safety: Comply with workplace safety and health regulations, as well as maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
