The Kerner Group is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk for its Corporate Office location in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia.

The Kerner Group, Inc. is the parent of one of the most prestigious commercial HVAC businesses in the Hampton Roads region and has been serving the commercial sector since 1946. We are a progressive, growth-oriented company and are currently seeking our next Superstar Team Member.

Responds to basic client inquiries and other clerical tasks related to maintaining accounts receivable records. Makes electronic bank deposits, records payments in the A/R module, reconciles customer accounts. Responsible for reaching out to customers to collect payments for overdue invoices. Assists with data entry in the A/P module, and as needed to support staff accountants.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • Record Customer payments, make daily online deposits
  • Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
  • Meticulously record notes and update contact information in both the customer card and collections main screen
  • Process liens when necessary
  • Communicate with management about billing concerns/disputes
  • Prepare Customer Invoices as needed
  • Setup new customers, new vendors, collect COI and W9 information
  • Upload and coordinate information within a workflow approval system
  • Match Purchase Orders to jobs and invoices
  • Reviewing documentation for sales tax
  • Assisting with vendor statement reconciliation

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in Accounting.
  • Computer Skills to include a high level of expertise using Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Great Plains desirable.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, understand, and carry out instructions in both written and oral format
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Regular and predictable physical attendance in the corporate office is an essential qualification for this position due to the importance of timing in completing assignments.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday (8AM-5PM)

Full time or Part Time 30-40 hours per week


Pay:
$ $24.00 per hour

Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Subject to random and post-accident drug screening.
