Description
The Housing Specialist performs a variety of office and field activities to identify and secure permanent housingopportunities for participants of SHERO, a transitional housing consortium for women and gender expansive
people directly impacted by the criminal legal system. Direct responsibilities include orienting all eligible
participants to the housing programs/services, providing housing search and supportive services to promote
residents' self-sufficiency, integration into the community and permanency in housing. Applicant should have a

Requirements:
Responsibilities:
- Conduct immediate and comprehensive assessment of permanent housing needs for SHERO residents
resident and obtain necessary consents.
- Coordinate all housingrelated services and communicate clearly and in a timely fashion to project
and community-based appointments, as needed.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a housing resource database to assist clients in linking to
- based housing support programs, NYCHA, HRA, HPD, realtors, and landlords.
- Maintain all confidential information and records. Complete applicable consent forms, documentation
all contractual & regulatory standards.
- Participate in monthly program meetings, and other SHEROrelated meetings as needed.
- Keep abreast of developments related to city housing policy and initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience providing housing
- Extensive knowledge of New York City permanent housing opportunities, including housing vouchers,
programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to collaborate successfully with multiple
- Demonstrated case management and organizational skills.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to balance a work schedule that is demanding and
- Experience working with women and/or justiceinvolved individuals is preferred. People with direct
- Possess a strengthsbased perspective and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

$55,000-$65,000
