Job Description Summary

The Sociology Department seeks a Student Research Assistant to aid faculty research activity in music analysis, sound studies, and cultural studies.

The assistant collaborates with faculty and other team members to contribute to ongoing research projects. Assist in the collection of data through various research methods. Analyze data using appropriate methodologies under the guidance of the Sociology Faculty. Utilize relevant software tools for graphic and sound sourcing, data analysis, literature management, and documentation.

Responsibilities

Collect and analyze data for research projects
Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings
Assist with data entry and organization
Contribute to the research design and methodology
Prepare research reports and presentations
Utilize graphic and audio sourcing software
Communicate research findings effectively in oral and written formats
Maintain organized records of research materials and data
Adhere to ethical guidelines and protocols in research activities

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a program to obtain a bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
Sufficient knowledge of social science research methods
Excellent organizational and time management skills

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge or experience regarding sound design and audio sourcing
Prior experience applying sociology research methods to research projects
Familiarity with music-related databases and archival research
