    Job Description
    • Work closely with the neurosurgical team members.
    • Develop and enhance significant specialized skills that can best be honed in a specialized team.
    • Duties as a neurosurgical nurse may include meeting with patients and their families before surgery to explain the procedure that will so greatly affect them/their loved ones.
    • Supervise room setup including getting the high-tech equipment ready for the surgeon to use during the procedure.
    • Actively assisting in the surgery itself.
    • Run as a circulating nurse making sure that everything is prepared for the particular procedure being performed.
    • Participate in spine and head surgery, including trauma affecting both these areas, as well as for stroke victims, where seconds are precious to the best possible medical outcome.
    • After the surgery you will supervise the transition of the patient to the post-operative care departments.
    Requirements
    • Graduate of an approved nursing program
    • Current California Registered Nurse license
    • Current BLS certification
    • 1+ year of Neurosurgery RN experience required
    • NIH/ Stroke Certified
